The V8 and six-speed automatic transmission provide all the low-rpm torque you need along with an excellent EPA-estimated 21 mpg* rating at highway speeds.

 

4.6L V8 Engine

Sport Trac is up for any adventure on whatever trail you choose to travel. The available 4.6L V8 engine features 3 valves per cylinder and advanced dual-equal variable cam timing technology. It cranks out 292 horsepower, 315 lb.-ft. of torque, and impressive EPA-estimated 15 city/21 highway fuel economy (4x2). The 4.6L V8 is available on Sport Trac Limited and with the Adrenalin Package.

 

4.0L V6 Engine

Sport Trac's standard 4.0L SOHC V6 engine with 5-speed automatic transmission provides an impressive combination of power and value. The smooth and quiet powertrain churns out 210 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque while providing an EPA-estimated 14 city/20 highway mpg (4x2) and 13 city/19 highway mpg (4x4).

6-Speed Automatic Transmission

The 6-speed automatic transmission that's mated to the 4.6L V8 engine has a wide span of gear ratios across the six speeds, providing responsive acceleration at the low end with an incredible 315 lb.-ft. of torque plus enhanced fuel economy at the overdrive 6th gear.*

Stiff Frame

The present generation of Sport Trac is designed with a fully boxed frame providing 427% more torsional stiffness than its predecessor. This impressively solid foundation translates directly into improved agility and more responsive handling on the road and on the trail.

The suspension system of today's Sport Trac utilizes a Short- and Long-Arm (SLA) design up front and a trailing blade design at the rear. Both are fully independent and supply an ideal combination of smooth road performance, agile control and rugged durability.

Available 4-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive

Whether your adventure takes you on city streets or off hard pavement, you'll be glad to know your Sport Trac 4x4 is equipped with the available Control Trac® System's outstanding road-gripping capability. Choose the 4x4 AUTO setting for everyday driving, kick it up to 4x4 HIGH when you need extra traction, and 4x4 LOW for serious off-road ventures. Sport Trac also offers an optional All-Wheel Drive (AWD) System on the aggressively styled Adrenalin custom street tuner. AWD is a full-time, fully automatic system that instantly delivers traction to the wheels needing it most.

Big Towing Capacity

A properly equipped V8-powered Sport Trac 4x2 has a maximum Class III/IV towing capacity of 7,160 lbs. (6,990 lbs. with 4x4). The V6-powered Sport Trac is pretty impressive, too, with a 5,250-lb. rating (4x2) and 5,080-lb. rating (4x4) when properly equipped. And you'll tow with more confidence with the Trailer Sway Control feature that works with the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control? System to help keep both vehicle and trailer under control.

Trailer Tow Packages

Bring your favorite recreation vehicle along on your next trek - Sport Trac can haul it. A Class II Trailer Tow Package with trailer tow wiring is standard on all Sport Trac models with a trailer weight capacity up to 3,500 lbs. For greater towing capacity up to 7,160 lbs. (Sport Trac 4x2 with V8), there's the available Class III/IV Trailer Tow Package that includes a hitch receiver and 7-pin wiring connector.

Sport Trac has earned 5-Star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for front and side-impact crash tests at all four seating positions.*

Standard Safety Canopy®

Sport Trac provides impressive airbag protection: front and side airbags for the driver and front seat passenger; and the Safety Canopy® System with side curtain airbags providing protection for the front and 2nd-row outboard passengers. In certain side impacts or rollovers, the airbags stay inflated longer for enhanced head and shoulder protection. Even with this comprehensive airbag coverage, remember to always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.

Versatile Bed

The Sport Trac cargo bed takes 37.5 cu. ft. of gear. Three storage bins with weather-resistant lids and removable drain plugs hold smaller items below the cargo bed deck. Add the optional cargo cage bed extender and you can carry an additional 6 cu. ft. of gear. Another handy feature - the optional crossbars (shown) to the standard roof side rails for even more cargo-carrying versatility.

Cargo Cage Bed Extender

The optional cargo cage bed extender adds an additional 6-plus cubic feet of storage space. You can use the extender with the tailgate open to make more room for gear or use it with the tailgate closed as an in-bed partitioner.

Tonneau Cover

The hard cargo bed tonneau cover helps protect your cargo from the elements and is lockable for added security. It's hinged in the middle, so you can access just the front or back of the box as needed. Removal is easy in just three steps. It's standard on Sport Trac Limited and optional on XLT.

Under-Floor Storage Bin

Sport Trac provides a handy weather-resistant under-floor storage bin in the cargo bed. It neatly secures items and protects them from the elements.

Voice-Activated Ford SYNC®

Sport Trac offers all the great features of the available voice-activated Ford SYNC® System* plus 911 Assist? and Vehicle Health Report. And now, Ford SYNC includes Traffic, Directions and Information services. With SYNC you can access your music collection on your MP3 player by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth® phone with simple voice commands.* You can even make music selections through your flash drive by voice command. With the 911 Assist feature, within seconds after airbag deployment, SYNC uses the cell phone connection you programmed into the system to make a call to a local 911 emergency operator. A pre-recorded message will then play when the call is answered, and you'll be able to communicate with the 911 operator.** Along with 911 Assist?, SYNC will offer a Vehicle Health Report feature. SYNC gathers information from the vehicle's control modules and transmits it through the cell phone connection you programmed into the system to Ford by way of an 800-number. You can receive these health reports free of charge by e-mail or text-message alerts. And now, SYNC with Traffic, Directions and Information? provides in-vehicle traffic reports, turn-by-turn directions and business search service, as well as news, sports and weather. Access it with either touch or voice commands. SYNC is optional in Sport Trac XLT, standard in the Limited, and included in the Adrenalin Package.

Trailer Sway Control

The standard Trailer Sway Control feature works with the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control? (RSC®) System by using the sensor that measures yaw motion to determine if the trailer is swaying. If necessary, Trailer Sway Control applies precise braking or adjusted engine torque to help bring both vehicle and trailer under control.

Navigation System with Integrated SIRIUS Travel Link?

The optional voice-activated Navigation System provides many navigational features including detailed freeway exit, turn and ramp transition lane guidance; street name announcement; and current location display. And that's not all. There's the greater wealth of travel information the integrated SIRIUS® Travel Link? service provides,* such as real-time traffic and weather conditions plus lowest local fuel prices. The system also comes with a 10GB hard drive for storing photos, ripping CDs, and managing music with the Jukebox function. You can also watch a DVD when the vehicle is in the Park position.

Reverse Sensing System

The Reverse Sensing System detects and then alerts you to an object up to 6 ft. behind you when you're slowly backing up. The alert sound becomes more frequent and louder the closer the vehicle gets to the object. It's included in the optional XLT and Limited Convenience Packages.

SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad

No more need to fumble for your keys in your pocket or purse with the SecuriCode? keyless entry keypad. Just enter the programmed code and open the door. Provides convenience as well as added security. It's standard in Sport Trac Limited and optional in the XLT with the XLT Convenience Package.
