Heavy hauling comes naturally to the optional 6.4L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine. It's the most powerful Ford pickup diesel engine ever built. High-pressure common-rail fuel injection helps deliver 100 percent of its 650 lb.-ft. of torque at just 2,000 rpm. It also optimizes cold-start capability and helps make this Power Stroke the quietest Ford truck diesel yet. Innovative technologies also help reduce particulate emissions to meet stringent federal standards.

6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel

With its 6.4L displacement and dual-stage turbochargers, the 6.4L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine cranks out a beastly 350 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. For applications like snowplowing that need lots of low-end muscle, it can produce its peak torque at only 2,000 rpm. And thanks to the precision of the piezo-actuated fuel injectors, the engine will start in under two seconds at -20°F.

Dual Turbos

The 6.4L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine benefits from dual-stage turbochargers - one to get things moving, another to keep things moving at higher speeds. Previous-generation diesels use a single, large turbo with a big, heavy impeller, which requires a lengthy spool-up time. The smaller impellers are lighter and able to spool faster, which equals more power more quickly and thus better performance.

Ford Clean Diesel Technology?

The 2010 Super Duty® uses Ford Clean Diesel Technology? including a diesel particulate Filter to trap soot particles. It's also optimized to use the latest ultra-low sulfur fuel. It burns cleaner, with less odor, and helps the emissions system last longer. With particulate emissions equivalent to those of a gasoline engine with similar size and power, the 6.4L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel is Ford's cleanest, quietest diesel truck ever.

Advanced Fuel Injection

The 6.4L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine uses state-of-the-art piezo-actuated fuel-injector technology, which delivers multiple precision fuel-injection bursts for a smoother, cleaner burn, reduced engine clatter, more powerful acceleration and reduced emissions.

TorqShift® Transmission

The proven TorqShift® transmission was designed for the high torque of a turbo diesel engine and includes a selectable Tow/Haul Mode that compensates for altitude, grade and load. It also features a three-plate, two-stage torque converter to reduce noise when the converter is locked.

Strong Rear Leaf Springs

The rear leaf springs beneath 2010 F-Series Super Duty® are built strong and long to windup stiffness and manage the awesome torque of the 6.4L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine without compromising ride comfort.

Frame Strength

For strength and durability, the Super Duty® frame's crossmembers are riveted, welded or both. Another strengthening measure, the hydroformed front-end assembly is entirely spot-welded.

High-Strength Front End

To provide solid vehicle integrity, the 2010 Super Duty® uses high-strength steel in its rugged hydroformed front-end structure.

 

Turning Radius

The 2010 Super Duty® F-450 Crew Cab long-box 4x4 pickup design incorporates a standard wide-track monobeam front suspension and more wheel-well space. These features give the truck a tight turning radius and give you impressive maneuverability and control.

Stowable Bed Extender

The stowable bed extender for 2010 Super Duty® is an innovative cargo support system that helps you contain what you're carrying. When not in use, this strong, durable, corrosion-resistant item splits in the middle, folds and stows into the sides of the bed. So there's no wasted space and no need to remove the extender when carrying large, flat loads.

Integrated Tailgate Step

2010 Super Duty® offers an available class-exclusive* integrated step hidden in the tailgate for easier access to the bed and its contents, and includes a unique flip-up grab bar that can handle the toughest customers. A tailgate liner and a pin-lock for added strength are included. It's unprecedented convenience, especially when combined with the torsion bar in the standard Tailgate Assist that makes closing the stamped-steel gate easy.

Rapid-Heat Cab Heater

Rapid-Heat is an available supplemental heating element on diesel trucks that helps bring the interior temperature up to a comfortable level more quickly. The self-regulating heater integrates into the climate controls to decrease the time it takes to reach a comfortable heating level.

PowerScope? Side Mirrors

At the touch of a switch, the available PowerScope? mirrors with memory adjust, telescope or fold. Designed specifically for the 2010 Super Duty®, these large mirrors extend up to 70mm, include heated glass and remember where the mirrors were previously set by the driver. The heated, manually adjustable spotter mirror is more than twice the size of its predecessor, providing expanded visibility. Rear View Camera

The optional Rear View Camera displays a wide view for when you're backing up as well as a clear picture of the hitch - useful when hooking up the trailer. The camera is mounted in the tailgate handle and viewed in the self-dimming interior rearview mirror - for easy line of sight right where you need to be looking when backing up (or on the navigation screen, if equipped). Standard on King Ranch® and Harley-Davidson?. Available on XLT, Cabela's® and Lariat.

Voice-activated Ford SYNC®

The 2010 Super Duty® offers all the great features of the available voice-activated Ford SYNC® System* - plus two new features: 911 Assist? and Vehicle Health Report. With SYNC you can access your music collection on your MP3 player by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth®-enabed phone with simple voice commands.* You can even make music selections through your flash drive by voice command. SYNC gets a major system upgrade with the addition of 911 Assist. Within seconds after airbag deployment, SYNC uses your cell phone connection that you programmed into the system to make a call to a local 911 emergency operator. A prerecorded message will then play when the call is answered, and you'll be able to communicate with the 911 operator.? Along with 911 Assist?, SYNC will offer a Vehicle Health Report feature. SYNC gathers information from the vehicle's control modules and transmits it through the cell phone connection that you programmed into the system to Ford by way of an 800 number.
